Shakeology Super Food Spotlight ~ Cacao

After drinking Shakeology for two years, I am ashamed to admit that I had no idea what was in it.

When I first started drinking it, I had been told that it was good for me and it would be a game changer in my health journey. I was told it would help me lose weight, but that is just one benefit from drinking this amazing shake.

So, I started drinking it. Yes, I saw the effects. I had more energy. My skin was softer. I didn’t have to take 8-10 stool softeners a day. My hair and nails were growing really fast. I wasn’t depressed anymore.

Normal cocoa powder and chocolate have been chemically processed and roasted, which destroys a large amount of the antioxidants and flavanols (the things that keep you young and healthy). Some of the amazing health benefits are:
1- It has 40 times the antioxidants than blueberries. That’s truly amazing!

2- If you are on a plant based or vegan diet and looking for a great source of iron, than CACAO is for you! Cacao is the highest plant-based source of iron known to man, at a whopping 7.3mg per 100g. This compares to beef and lamb at 2.5mg, and spinach at 3.6mg. To get the full benefits of it, make sure to combine it with a vitamin C source.

3- Cacao is also one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium, the most deficient mineral in the Western world. Magnesium is important for a healthy heart, and helps turn glucose into energy enabling your brain to work with laser-sharp clarity and focus.
